Vacation???
Hello Everyone, Its been a long time I've posted anything in this page. Got a little busy...lol. Well, Here is something I'll share with you. I was on a vacation for 2 weeks. I went to Chennai(for people who dont know that place, its a metro in Tamil Nadu, India). My journey to that place was indeed an adventure.
I left office at 8:45 PM and atartd to Railway Station, whithout even knowing if the train is canceled. Good evil, it was not. It started 5 minutes late and everything went fine until 5:30 AM next day. As everybody knew, it was raining cats and dogs all over Bangalore and Chennai and other districts in Tamilnadu. the train stopped at a place called Arakonam in Tamilnadu at 5:30 AM. The Ticket Checker said the train is not going to move for the next 2 hours as there is a lot of water on the tracks and they are being cleared. We waited. After 2 hours, we again got an info that it will start in an hour and then an hour and then 1/2 and it went on like this for 6 hours.
We had no option but to wait because no other train is directly going to Chennai from there and its raining heavily. After 6 hours there was one local train that was going to a place some where near Chennai.I boarded that train and came till a place called Thiruvallur, 60 Kms away from Chennai. There again same reason, the train wont move as there is water on the tracks. No mode of transport is available to move further as everyone are scared about a nearby river is about to break because of flood. But there was one guy willing to risk with me(in fact we were 6 by then) to cross the river and drop us after 40 kms. That was for a cost of 450 bucks. That was way too much for that distance on a normal day.
Well we travelled and reached a place call Poonamalli, still raining and I'm all wet along with the luggage. There we boarded a bus for a different route as none were going to where I had to go. From there another Auto rickshaw which actually stopped after 20 meters as the water level on the road was too much for the auto. The water level was so high that I was only able to see the top part of a car. More than 1/2 of the car glass is under water. It was a bus that actually took us to the other end, but not easily... with water flowing inside the bus.
I've still not reached home. From there I Had to take another auto for the next 1 km. Then another bus for the next 1 km. After all this I still had to walk home with water touching my thigh and the luggage over it. My home was only 3 Km away from there.
At last I reached home after 19 hours, which would only be 5 and 1/2 hours on normal days.
That was how I vacation started. well... how it went... you can imagin.
